About ZUG DLT
ZUG DLT is an independent intelligence publication covering Switzerland’s distributed ledger technology ecosystem. Published by The Vanderbilt Portfolio AG, Zurich.
What We Cover
The Swiss DLT Act and Its Implementation Switzerland’s Federal Act on Adaptation of Federal Law to DLT Developments (effective February 2021) is the world’s most comprehensive statutory DLT framework. ZUG DLT tracks its implementation across the eight federal statutes it amended, FINMA’s supervisory practice under the Act, and the evolving legislative agenda at the Federal Council level.
DLT Securities Issuance and Trading The DLT Act created a new legal category — DLT securities (Registerwertrechte) — assets that exist only on a distributed register and whose transfer is effected by blockchain transaction. ZUG DLT covers the full lifecycle of DLT securities: primary issuance, custodial arrangements, pledging, secondary trading, and insolvency treatment.
The SIX Digital Exchange SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) holds the world’s first DLT trading facility licence issued by FINMA. ZUG DLT tracks SDX’s listed instruments, participant roster, settlement arrangements with the Swiss National Bank, and its role in establishing Switzerland’s position as the global centre for regulated DLT securities markets.
Enterprise Blockchain Deployments in Swiss Industry Switzerland’s corporate sector — financial services, supply chain, insurance, healthcare, and luxury goods — has been at the forefront of enterprise blockchain adoption. ZUG DLT analyses real deployments, governance models, and the measured adoption reality that distinguishes genuine enterprise DLT from promotional claims.
FINMA’s DLT Regulatory Framework The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) supervises DLT trading facility licensees, DLT securities issuers operating as banks or securities dealers, and the broader ecosystem of blockchain-based financial services. ZUG DLT tracks FINMA guidance, enforcement actions, and regulatory developments shaping the DLT institutional market.
Editorial Standards
